Research

Research programme

Our research is organised around three interconnected themes, translating findings into tangible societal impact and contributing directly to the UN Sustainable Development Goals.

Three themes

What we work on

Climate risk & urban resilience

Quantifying climate impacts on regional and global ecosystems and on the resilience of dense coastal cities like Hong Kong.

Atmospheric chemistry & health

Linking air quality and atmospheric processes to public health outcomes through observation and modelling.

AI-driven environmental governance

Using AI, data analytics, and climate modelling to design inclusive, evidence-based interventions and governance frameworks.

Student engagement

CCES offers externally funded MPhil and PhD scholarships, with each postgraduate co-supervised across two departments. A Summer Climate Research Internship and embedded course modules engage undergraduates, and students have opportunities to present their work at the CCES International Conference.
