Prof. Meiyu Guo

Prof. Meiyu Guo is an Associate Professor in the Academy of Geography at Hong Kong Baptist University and a research fellow at the Asia Energy Study Centre. She received B.Sc. in Management and M.Econ. in Environmental Economics, both from Renmin University, and Ph.D. in Geography from the Chinese University of Hong Kong. She was a visiting research fellow at Harvard University. She studies the environmental impacts of unconventional energy development, with a focus on the development of shale gas. As the first/corresponding authors, she published over 30 papers in Nature Communications, Joule, Environmental Science & Technology (ES&T), etc., and also authored a Springer-Nature Book. As a principal investigator (PI), she has received competitive grants from the Hong Kong Research Grants Council (RGC) Early Career Scheme & General Research Fund, and the China’s National Natural Science Foundation (NSFC) Young Scientists Fund. She is also a co-PI of the NSFC-RGC Collaborative Research Scheme. These fundings support her interdisciplinary, forward-looking research on techno-economic, environmental, and societal assessments of emerging energy technologies ranging from shale gas to novel photovoltaics.
